Tana wins Nkana coaching job

NKANA Football Club have confirmed former Chipolopolo defender Elijah Tana as head coach.

Tana, who replaces Mwenya Chipepo, will be assisted by Josphat Nkhoma as first assistant coach and club legend Donashano Malama as second assistant coach.

Michael Poto will continue in his role as goalkeeper coach, while Simon Bwalya will remain senior team physical trainer.

The appointments were approved by the newly-appointed club executive committee at its meeting held in Kitwe on Friday.

Nkana Chief Executive Officer Mwansa Kapyanga says the appointments follow the club’s assessment of its technical and performance requirements.

“We are confident in the technical team we have assembled and believe they possess the qualities required to drive the club forward and satisfy the club’s sporting and strategic parameters,”  Kapyanga said in a statement.

“Nkana Football Club wishes the technical bench success as preparations for the forthcoming season continue. They have our full support as they work towards achieving the club’s objectives,” Kapyanga added.

Tana led the club after Chipepo and his right hand man Chris Katongo were put on administrative leave towards the end of last season.

Chipepo joined Nkana in October, 2024 as head coach, signing a two-year contract valid until 2026.

The duo, who joined Nkana from Forest Rangers, have since separated from the club.
