Foloko underscores Zambia’s active role in efforts to safeguard fair play, transparency in sport

THE National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president Alfred Foloko is representing Zambia at the International Olympic Committee (IOC)–INTERPOL workshop on the prevention of manipulation of sports competitions in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The two-day workshop, which began yesterday and concluded yesterday, has drawn participants from across Africa, including representatives of National Olympic Committees, law enforcement agencies, governments, and sports organisations.

The gathering is focused on strengthening collaboration to combat competition manipulation, illegal betting, and other threats to the integrity of sport.

Foloko is attending in his capacity as Third Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), standing in for ANOCA President Mustapha Berraf.

His presence underscores Zambia’s active role in continental efforts to safeguard fair play and transparency in sport.

Also representing Zambia is IOC Believe in Sport Ambassador Nchimunya Mweetwa, who joined delegates in discussions aimed at promoting clean and transparent competition.

Mweetwa’s involvement highlights the importance of athlete education and advocacy in the fight against corruption and manipulation.

The IOC–INTERPOL initiative seeks to reinforce the Olympic Movement’s commitment to integrity through education, prevention, and coordinated action.
By bringing together diverse stakeholders, the workshop aims to build a united front against corruption and ensure that sport remains a symbol of fairness and trust across Africa.
