Kazadi trial on porn charges commences August 24

THE Lusaka Magistrates Court has set August 24 and 25 as trial dates in the case in which Zambian film producer David Kazadi is charged with producing, possession and publishing of obscene material.

Kazadi, 34, appeared with his co-accused Mwaka Halwindi, 23 and another identified as Ruby Muzandu, 23, who is charged with circulating and possessing alleged obscene materials.

All the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Kazadi faces four counts in relation to obscene material while the two female co-accused Halwindi and Muzandu both face two counts each.

In the first count, Kazadi stands charged with circulating obscene matters when he circulated a video of Halwindi performing fellatio tending to corrupt morals, while in the second count, he was charged with producing obscene matters with unknown persons when he produced an obscene sadistic sexual video tending to corrupt public morals.

And in the third count, Kazadi is charged with circulating obscene matters when he circulated an obscene sadistic video to Ruby Muzandu via WhatsApp, and on the fourth count, he faces the charge of possession when he had in his possession an obscene object namely sex dildo tending to corrupt morals.

Halwindi in the fifth count faces the charge of producing obscene matters when with other persons unknown produced a video depicting manual genital stimulation and fellatio tending to corrupt morals.

In the sixth count, she is charged with possession when she had in her possession an obscene video of herself performing fellatio tending to corrupt morals.

And Muzandu who is the third person in this matter is accused of circulating obscene material when she circulated obscene videos on a WhatSapp group called “Trip to South Africa” using an IPhone 13 ProMax which belongs to Judith Chibwe, while in the eighth count, Muzandu is charged with possession when she had obscene videos.

Kazadi and Halwiindi worked together under Kazadi Films, a production house under the Hot Media Group in Zambia.

Trial in the matter commences on August 24  through to 25, 2026.

We’ve already been paid, say former expatriate teachers FORMER expatriate Teachers Coordinating Committee has distanced itself from Alamathan Rwenzyigye and some of those connected to the High Court case demanding US$1.35 billion and ZMW7.58 billion from the Zambian government of unpaid allowances and other emoluments.

Public relations officer for the former Expatriate Teaches Coordinating Committee (FETCC) Richard Buteraba Iga said a few crooked teachers have attempted to disproportionately benefit more that their colleagues in ingenious bit criminal ways.

Mr Iga explained that those who commenced the High Court proceedings under cause number 2026/HP/0791 were bent on extorting additional funds from the government with outrageous claims even by use of names of unsuspecting members and non-existent people in their schemes.

In a press statement on Thursday, the committee has threatened to expose those linked to the alleged cartel of officials who aid the illegal act with alleged criminal lawyers. 

“However, by the sheer audacity of this new case, we shall escalate this matter to expose the rot and connivance of officials who aid this small but strong cartel of criminals determined to haul away the equivalent of two Zambia Eurobonds with the assistance of unscrupulous lawyers.

“These determined culprits have caused a stigma over a long, hard-fought and genuine case and have brought untold misery to ailing retirees who had dedicated and sacrificed their youthful and energetic years in selfless labour to the service of Zambia,” Mr Iga said.

He said they were grateful to the government and pleaded for continued help to the organisation and its commitment to paying off all beneficiaries in the matter, especially even in honour of about 70 teachers who have died while waiting for compensation through this period.

They have therefore given the so-called Alamathan Rwenzingye and his or her accomplices and their lawyers 48 hours to withdraw the bogus case from court or shall be forced to report them to the relevant authorities.

A total of 1, 212 expatriate teachers filed a statement of claim against the government in the amount of K7.58 billion and US$1.35 billion in unpaid allowances and benefits and other emoluments owed to them after they retired.
