MINISTRY of Tourism Permanent Secretary Evans Muhanga has described Nyambwezu Water Falls in Mwinilunga as one of the countrys most spectacular yet untapped natural heritage attractions.

Mr Muhanga said the waterfalls had the potential to become a premier tourism destination with improved infrastructure, accessibility and visitor facilities.

He made the remarks after visiting the site where he was impressed by its scenic beauty, rich biodiversity and cultural heritage.

Mr Muhanga said the caves beneath the waterfalls, which contain ancient rock art paintings, provided visitors with a unique experience.

Standing inside the caves and listening to the powerful roar of the cascading waters while appreciating the ancient rock art was a truly remarkable experience,he said.

Nyambwezu Water Falls is a priceless natural and cultural heritage asset that deserves greater attention and investment.

Mr Muhanga said the combination of the waterfalls, caves, flora and fauna made the site one of the countrys finest natural attractions.

He was accompanied during the visit by his North-Western Province counterpart Col Grandson Wishikoti Katambi (Rtd.), where he expressed gratitude for having had the opportunity to experience the site.
