…as he and Brian Mundubile are driven out of Lundazi by the Zambia Police, advises the UPND to begin to prepare for smooth transition for which Zambia has been known for since the dawn of multiparty politics
ZAMBIANS are decided, the wind of change is real and everywhere we have been and gone, people are demanding for change and the UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema should begin to prepare to facilitate for a smooth transition, Makebi Zulu has said.
Mr Zulu, the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance presidential running mate says Zambians across the country are demanding for change because they are not happy with the manner they have been governed in the last five years.
Speaking in an interview yesterday after the Zambia Police drove him and Brain Mundubile, the TONSE Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate out of Lundazi, Mr Zulu said the wind of Change was unstoppable because God had already prepared the way.
“This afternoon, as we were transitioning from Lundazi to Mafinga via Chama, Police in full riot gear blocked our motorcade demanding that we leave the district and that we should not pass through Chama CBD as doing so would constitute an illegal meeting,” Mr Zulu said.
He explained that as a lawyer, he wondered how it was a crime for people to pass through one town to get to another or indeed to stop and stretch after a long drive on a bad road.
Mr Zulu said the ‘Mundubile-Makebi wind of change’ was unstoppable and would certainly win the August 13 general election with a landslide, stating that those imagining that the wind of change was nothing but fiction were free to enjoy their fantasy.
Mr Zulu and Mr Mundubile are on a marathon campaign trail in Eastern Province, having started with Nyimba, Katete, Petauke, Sinda, Chipata and Malambo and were yesterday in Lundazi.
He said the astronomically high cost of living was what was going to show the UPND the exit door from government, stating that the ruling party had failed to deliver on all its promises.
“The wind of change is real. Let those who are in government accept the fact. Let the UPND and President Hichilema just begin to prepare to hand over power peacefully. We have had changes of government before and the transitions have all been smooth.
Change is certainly coming and we are going to have a new government after the August general election,” Mr Zulu said.
Mr Zulu stated that the mega public rallies he and Mr Mundubile have been holding were not just numbers but a clear sign that Zambians were eager to see things change for the better after being subjected to excruciating economic hardships in the last five years.
Mr Zulu stated that it was incorrect and political redundancy for the UPND to continue claiming they had inherited a ruined economy because things were better, cheaper and easier under the Patriotic Front government.
He has assured that no amount of harassment and intimidation was going to stop Zambians from electing a leadership of their choice and that as things stood, he and Mr Mundubile would be taking over the governance of the country after the August general election.
Ends.
