Power without God can destroy leaders - Nalumango

VICE President Mutale Nalumango has warned that power and authority can become destructive when leaders fail to remain grounded in God, urging both political and church leaders to exercise leadership with humility, integrity and prayer.

Speaking when she met the Kawambwa Christian Fellowship in Kawambwa, Dr. Nalumango said leadership was a sacred responsibility that should always be exercised with the fear of God.

She said those entrusted with authority should continually seek God’s guidance and remain accountable to Him.

“Power can consume and destroy when it is not handled properly. That is why those entrusted with authority must continually seek God’s guidance and remain accountable to Him,” Dr. Nalumango said.

She said Government and the Church served the same people and should therefore work together in promoting peace, unity and national development.

Dr. Nalumango said a responsible government shared the same constituency as the Church, making collaboration between the two institutions essential for the well-being of the nation.

She also called on the clergy to remain steadfast in praying for those in leadership, saying the Bible commanded believers to intercede for all those holding positions of authority.

Dr. Nalumango said the biblical instruction to pray for leaders was not limited to those perceived as righteous but applied to all leaders regardless of their character or political affiliation.

“The Bible does not tell us to pray only for good leaders. It instructs us to pray for those in authority because leadership comes with enormous responsibility, and they need God’s wisdom and guidance,” she said.

Dr. Nalumango also encouraged men and women of God to actively participate in the country’s democratic processes, saying elections and governance directly affected Christians and society at large.
