We’re coming to restore unity – Mundubile

…says Zambians have been betrayed in the last five years with increasing tribal sentiments, as he accuses the UPND government of caring more about figures than the people

ZAMBIA has been deeply divided in the last five years of the UPND administration and time for the restoration of its unity, togetherness, reconciliation and healing will come only if government changes after August 13, Brian Mundubile has said.

And Mr Mundubile, the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate says once in government, the administration of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will be changed so that it would not be an empowerment scheme for cadres of the ruling party.

Addressing a mammoth rally in the small town of Nyimba in Eastern Province, Mr Mundubile said the country was in desperate need of a rebirth after being subjected to serious ethnic and tribal divisions at the hands of the UPND.

“Zambia is currently deeply divided under our friends the UPND. But the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance is coming to restore unity. We will take Zambia to the true days of One Zambia, One Nation.

We are coming to promote peace, unity and harmony because these are the values this country was built on. We are coming to restore national renewal. They are the values that are the catalyst for real economic development,” Mr Mundubile said.

Mr Mundubile said the administration of justice under the UPND administration had been completely compromised with many citizens getting arrested and jailed on trumped up charges.

He has also pledged that his administration shall liberate the courts so that they could once again become independent in discharging their mandate of dispensing justice.

He pledged that Parliament, which he said had lost its credibility under the new dawn should have its integrity restored where law makers would enjoy the true meaning of the doctrine of the separation of powers.

“The administration of justice in the country has been completely fractured. Our judiciary is no longer operating independently. The justice system has been destroyed. We are coming to restore the credibility of our Parliament so that our law makers will have to debate without being shut up,” Mr Mundubile said.

And Mr Mundubile said the CDF would no longer be a conduit for looting and empowering cadres affiliated to the ruling party but that every Zambian, youths and women shall have access without any form of discrimination.

“The time for CDF being administered in a discriminatory way is going with the UPND. We shall continue with CDF but we are going to revise its administration so that it does not just benefit the cadres from the ruling party,” Mr Mundubile said.

He said the UPND did not care about Zambians and that its interest was to impress donors with figures such as the country have billions of reserves yet citizens were in dire poverty and suffering.
