…says the August 13 general election will bring about change that will see the end of impunity, regional discrimination, that change to change the Constitution, as Samuel Mukupa says God has answered the people’s prayers for change

ZAMBIA is going for change of leadership on August 13 to bring to an end tribalism that has deeply divided the country, to bring in the change of the person of the President of the country and to change the party currently in government with the aim of bringing in a leadership that is going to end impunity and restore the rule of law, Prince Dr Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanica has said.

And Samuel Mukupa, the Council of Elders chairperson says God has answered the prayers of Zambians for a change of government and that the mass turnout of citizens in the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance rally had spoken the final word of what would happen on August 13.

Prince Mbikusita-Lewanika says power to govern is in the hands of Zambians and that knowing where citizens have come from with the UPND, the people had decided that change should be effected on August 13.

“Zambia is in our hands. Power is in the hands of the people. You must know where you are coming from under the UPND regime. But now we are going for change…we want to change the person of the President of Zambia. We want the change to change the ruling party, to change the Constitution, to change the economy and to bring to an end tribalism, to bring equality in Zambia,” Prince Mbikusita-Lewanika said.

And Prince Mbikusita-Lewanika has endorsed Brian Mundubile, the Tonse Pamodzi presidential candidate and his running mate Makebi Zulu, saying the country was in need of leaders who were humble and respectful of traditional institutions.

Prince Mbikusita-Lewanika, the former Senior Chief of Kaoma, said he had travelled to the home of Paramount Chief Chitimukulu to deliver what he described as “the hearts of the people of Barotseland” in support of Mr. Mundubile and Mr. Zulu.

Prince Mbikusita-Lewanika criticised President Hakainde Hichilema for allegedly failing to apologise to the Litunga and the people of Western Province for decreeing that there was no country called Barotseland.

“President Hakainde Hichilema is a very proud man who has failed to apologise to the Litunga and the people of Barotseland for his offensive decree that there is no country called Barotseland,” Prince Mbikusita-Lewanika said.

He contrasted President Hichilema’s conduct with that of former Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya, whom he said apologised after facing criticism over comments regarding a proposed airport in Mongu.

“Kafwaya is humble. He stood on top of the internet and apologised to the people of Barotseland and BRE,” Prince Mbikusita-Lewanika said. “But President Hichilema, who said nasty things against the people of Barotseland, up to now he has not apologised.”

Prince Mbukusita-Lewanika also expressed disappointment with the manner in which the current administration has been governing, saying the endorsement of Mr. Mundubile and Mr. Zulu reflected the aspirations of the people of Western Province.

He urged political leaders to show greater respect for traditional governance systems and cultural institutions, adding that humility and dialogue were essential qualities for national leadership.
