GOV’T TO RECRUIT 2,600 HEALTH WORKERS NEXT YEAR

THE Civil Service Commission has announced the recruitment of 2,600 health workers across various categories within the health system for the year 2026.
The announcement was made by Civil Service Commission Chairperson Choolwe Beyani during a media briefing in Lusaka today.
ZANIS reports that Dr Beyani said the recruitment exercises, which will be conducted across the country, are aimed at strengthening the health system and enhancing the delivery of healthcare services.
He hinted that the recruitment exercise of health workers will be advertised by the Civil Service Commission next week Tuesday, 14th July 2026, both in the Zambia Daily Mail and the Times of Zambia newspapers.
Dr Beyani further indicated that the advertisement will be repeated on Thursday, 16th July 2026.
He explained the purpose of the advertisement is to invite suitably qualified Zambians to submit applications for various positions in different health sector cadres.
He further highlighted that the advert is expected to run for a period of three weeks thereafter, applicants will be given an opportunity to verify their details from 1st to 11th September 2026 at the district health office to which they applied.
Dr Beyani said applicants are encouraged to apply to any district of their choice.
The Civil Service Commission Chairperson has since urged suitably qualified individuals to take advantage of the opportunity by applying within the stipulated time.
Meanwhile, the Civil Service Commission has warned would-be applicants to be vigilant and avoid individuals who may attempt to solicit money or promise employment.
Dr Beyani pointed out that the Commission does not charge any fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
He said all appointments by the Commission are made on merit and subject to established procedures and available vacancies.
Dr Beyani warned that any individual found engaging in fraudulent activities or attempting to compromise the integrity of the recruitment process will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He however said that as the fiscal space continues to improve, the government will progressively roll out additional recruitment exercises to address staffing needs across priority sectors while maintaining the principles of transparency, fairness, equity and merit.
