…fears that all the developmental gains attained under his administration will be reversed should Zambians decide to vote against him next month

By BARNABAS ZULU

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has urged residents of Kapiri Mponshi not to return to the opposition, warning that reversing the country’s current development path would be costly.

Speaking at a rally yesterday, President Hichilema said Zambia must continue building on the economic gains his administration has achieved since taking office.

“Thank you very much ba Kapiri Mposhi for turning out in numbers. We will continue to deliver development for you,” Mr Hichilema said.

He said the expanded Constituency Development Fund (CDF) had significantly improved service delivery in education, health and infrastructure across both urban and rural areas.

“This will continue. Kapiri Mposhi urban roads are going to be done as they have been costed under the Lusaka–Ndola dual carriageway,” he said.

President Hichilema said government had created jobs in various sectors including the Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force (ZAF), Zambia National Service (ZNS), Zambia Police, Immigration, Health and Education, among others.

“We have created jobs under Zambia Army, Zambia Airforce, Zambia National Service, Zambia Police, Immigration Department, Health, and Education among others. And we will continue to do more,” he said.

Mr Hichilema also said government had stabilised the economy and was now focusing on reducing the cost of living, citing improved crop production as one of the positive indicators.

“We have managed the debt crisis and now our focus is on lowering the cost of living as all signs can show in the unprecedented crop production,” he said.
