Zambians deserve an apology from UPND – Jay Jay

THE UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema should apologise to Zambians for obtaining power through false pretenses and presiding over the persecution of political opponents for the last five years, Emmanuel Jay Banda has said.

Speaking in an interview yesterday, Mr Banda said President Hichilema should seek forgiveness from the Zambian people and those whom he said had been unfairly incarcerated during the UPND administration.

“President Hakainde Hichilema should apologise to Zambians for buying his way into power through untruths and for hurting many citizens, including those who were unfairly incarcerated,” Mr Banda said.

He said political leaders and public officials who were acting against the interests of the country would eventually be held accountable.

“God will start dealing with all those opposed to the well-being of Zambians one by one,” he said.

Mr Banda further said individuals plotting to manipulate the outcome of the August 13 general election would ultimately face public resistance.

“Those plotting to help the UPND rig the August 13 general election will face the wrath of the people because this is a big battle,” he said.

The former lawmaker also said the political atmosphere ahead of the polls, was tense stating that violence could claim lives if tensions were not addressed.

“Shortly before the election, some people will die as a result of political violence,” Mr Banda said.
