PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has accused opposition political leaders of being criminals and lacking a clear manifesto, relying on programmes already implemented by the ruling UPND government as campaign promises.
Speaking during a mega rally in Kitwe yesterday, President Hichilema described some opposition leaders as “criminals” and challenged them to present alternative policies to Zambians.
President Hichilema said the opposition had failed to offer new ideas and was instead campaigning on achievements that had already been delivered by the UPND administration.
“Those criminals have no manifesto. Who are they? Criminals. They have no manifesto. They are campaigning on our achievements,” Mr Hichilema said.
He said key social programmes being highlighted by opposition parties had already been implemented by his government.
“If you have heard them, they are talking about free education, which we have already solved. They are talking about meal allowances, which we have already solved.
They are talking about school feeding programmes, which we have already sorted out. So, what are they saying?” he asked.
President Hichilema said the UPND government had demonstrated its commitment to improving the welfare of citizens through policies aimed at increasing access to education and supporting vulnerable households.
He urged voters to support the ruling party in next month’s general election, saying continuity in government would ensure that development programmes currently underway were completed and expanded to benefit more Zambians.
