Orange Alliance is intact, says Imboela

CITIZENS’ First (CF) Orange Alliance spokesperson Saboi Imboela says the alliance remains intact despite the departure of its running mate Mr Moses Mawere, who has joined the Tonse Alliance ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Mr Mawere recently announced his decision to leave the Orange Alliance and align himself with Tonse Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile alongside other opposition figures including Mr Chishimba Kambwili and Mr Maxwell Chongu.

The development followed a meeting by the CF central committee on the party’s political direction, particularly whether to join the Tonse Pamozi Alliance or continue contesting independently.

The majority of the central committee members resolved that the party should remain independent, but Mr Mawere later moved to join Tonse Alliance in what Ms Imboela described as an individual decision.

In an interview yesterday, Ms Imboela said Mr Mawere’s decision did not represent the position of the Orange Alliance.

“Mr Mawere moved as an individual. He did not move as the Orange Alliance because the decision of the party was that we remain intact and continue with our journey,” she said.

Ms Imboela said Citizens First would continue strengthening its structures and mobilising support across the country.

“The Orange Alliance is still intact. We are continuing with our mobilisation and we are consolidating our numbers because we believe in the message we are taking to the people,” she said.
