Minerals to belong to Zambians – Kalaba

…says if elected as head of State, every mineral found on land owned by an indigenous Zambian with a title deed will belong to him or her.

ANY mineral resources discovered on legally owned land will belong to the title holder as there is need for Zambians to have control over the country's natural resources.

Citizens first president, Harry Kalaba says he will ensure that every citizen is issued with secure land ownership through title deeds if elected president in the August 13 general election.

Speaking when he featured on Radio Christian Voice' s The Ballot Talk, Mr. Kalaba said if voted in office, his administration will prioritise local participation in the mining sector.

He said there is no need for the nation to place emphasis on attracting foreign mining investors at the expense of empowering indigenous Zambians.

Mr. Kalaba also said the Citizens First administration will establish mechanisms to investigate mineral discoveries and support small-scale miners through financing, technical assistance and formal licensing.

“Investing in training and capacity building for local miners to enable them to compete effectively on international markets will be key on the agenda,” Mr Kalaba said.
