It’s been 5 years of anguish - Mundubile

…says liberation is near, pledges that there shall be no more political persecutions, victimisation or vengeance because the country will be governed by the rule of law and not of man

THE last five years of President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND have been the most traumatising with Zambians being subjected to untold economic miseries, political persecution, misrule and total disregard of the rule of law and come August 13, Zambia will experience a rebirth, Brian Mundubile has said.

And Chishimba Kambwili has said President Hichilema had failed to address the challenges facing ordinary citizens and should be voted out of office.

Mr Mundubile, the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) presidential candidate says Zambians were ready for a new administration and pledged to govern in line with the law if elected.

“I have accepted the responsibility placed on my shoulders to lead this country for the next five years. The last five years of the UPND have been traumatising.

Zambians have experienced the suffering never seen before. We are coming to change the lives of Zambians for the better and we are going to govern by the rule of law and not by the whims and caprices of one person,” Mr Mundubile said.

He called for a moment of silence in honour of those who had lost their lives in politically related violence and appealed to President Hichilema to publicly denounce such acts.

“I appeal to my brother, Hakainde Hichilema to condemn and denounce political violence. We should not lose lives in the name of politics,” Mr Mundubile, who is a lawyer, said.

He said the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance would remain committed to peaceful politics and would uphold the national motto, “One Zambia, One Nation.”

Mr Mundubile said his administration would govern fairly and ensure equal treatment for all citizens regardless of political affiliation or the region they came from.

He also promised to prioritise infrastructure development, including the construction of the Mporokoso-Nsumbu-Kaputa Road and the electrification of Nsama to stimulate business growth.

“Farmers will begin to receive eight bags of farming inputs instead of getting them in cups. We will continue with free education, but we will improve its quality,” Mr Mundubile said.

And Mr Kambwili, who on Monday joined the Mundubile-Makebi campaign trail said President Hichilema had failed to address the challenges facing ordinary citizens and should be voted out of office on August 13.

“President Hakainde Hichilema must go. I feel pity for him. When people suffer, they would rather vote for a frog. But now we have Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu. Brian Mundubile served as a Member of Parliament for two terms and has the political experience to lead this country,” Mr Kambwili said.

He said the country needed experienced leadership capable of responding to the concerns of ordinary Zambians.

“How can the President call Mr Mundubile a ‘boy’? When you see a head of State becoming sarcastic, then know his time is up. For five years, President Hichilema has done nothing  resorting to sarcasm,” Mr Kambwili said.

Mr Kambwili said UPND had been misleading the public on a number of national issues.

“I wonder whether some UPND leaders, most of whom do not even drink alcohol, have been given juju or were tattooed to lie and lie. Lying is in the DNA of the UPND. We have been lied to as a nation for too long. Even if it is magical, why lie to this extent, even on the education sector? Let us remove UPND from power,” Mr Kambwili said.

Meanwhile, State Counsel Chifumu Banda said President Hichilema had failed to listen to the concerns of ordinary citizens and should therefore not be given another chance to perpetaute the suffering of Zambians.

“The President has eyes but does not see, and ears but does not hear the cries of the people. I urge Zambians to wake up early on August 13 and vote for Brian Mundubile,” Mr Banda said.
