Court convicts musician Dalitso over road traffic offences

THE Lusaka Fast Track Court has convicted local popular musician Madalitso ‘Daliso Mwana wamukomboni’ Phiri K9, 700 over multiple road traffic offences.

This is in relation to the road traffic accident which happened on Monday, 27 April 2026, around 23:00 hours, along Mosi-Oa-Tunya Road in which Daliso hit into a presidential motorcycle injuring the police officer who was on duty.

The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) Fast Track Court sitting at Lusaka civic Centre convicted Daliso after he pleaded guilty to five counts when he caused a slight injury accident.

He was charged with driving without a licence, driving a vehicle without third party insurance, driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or narcotic drugs and driving a vehicle without road tax as well as dangerous driving.

Magistrate Lawrence Phiri convicted and fined Daliso on his own admission of guilty.

Daliso was driving a Nissan Mitsuoka, registration number BAB 5514, escaped unhurt when he cut in front of the oncoming police motorbike, resulting in a collision that left Police Inspector Kwibisa Mbuye, 39, of Lusaka, who was riding a Zambia Police BMW motorbike, registration number ZP 3050 slightly injured.
