Catholic Radio honours democracy champion Makebi

A CATHOLIC Radio Station, Yusufu Catholic Radio in Mpika has honoured Makebi Zulu, the Tonse Pamodzi presidential running mate for his contribution to Zambia’s growing democracy, good governance and public representation in Zambia.

Yusufu Radio station has also recognized Brain Mundubile, the Tonse Pamodzi presidential candidate, Stephen Kampyongo and Binwell Mpundu for the equal contribution to the defence of democracy..

Yusufy Radio Station, a Catholic-run station presented Mr. Zulu with a Certificate of Award in Mpika yesterday and the honour was conferred on the Mr Mundibile’s running mate by the Bishop of Mpika, Most Rev. Edwin Mwansa Mulandu.

“I am humbled by this gesture. Recognition of this nature inspires me to continue serving the people with dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the values that strengthen our democracy and advance the common good,” Mr Zulu said.

According to Yusufu Catholic Radio, the award recognises individuals who have demonstrated consistency in promoting democratic values, accountability, and service to communities.

Mr. Zulu’s work as former Minister for Eastern Province, Senior Counsel, and now NRPUP running mate was cited as part of the basis for the honour.

The station also recognised other leaders for their contribution to good governance and service delivery.

They include NRPUP presidential candidate Mr Mundubile, former Shiwang’andu Member of Parliament Stephen Kampyongo, and former Nkana MP Binwell Mpundu were also recognized.

The awards come just weeks before the August 2026 general elections, with the Catholic Church continuing to play a vocal role in promoting peace, integrity, and citizen participation.
