ATOMIC Eagle has reported a significant expansion of uranium mineralisation at its wholly owned Muntanga Uranium Project in following a recent drilling campaign at the Chisebuka deposit.

The exploration programme successfully extended the known boundaries of mineralisation, identified new higher-grade uranium zones and confirmed continuity between existing mineralised areas, strengthening the project’s long-term development prospects.

Among the notable drill results were intersections of 5.4 metres grading 422 parts per million (ppm) eU₃O₈ from 47 metres, 12.8 metres grading 237 ppm from 40.9 metres and 10.3 metres grading 210 ppm from 81.4 metres.

The company, in a statement, said the northern higher-grade zone had now expanded to approximately 900 metres by 600 metres, while the south-west zone has grown to about 830 metres by 400 metres.

Chief Executive Officer Phil Hoskins described the first phase of the 2026 exploration programme as a major success, saying the results continued to demonstrate Chisebuka’s potential to become a significant contributor to a larger-scale mining operation.

“The latest drilling outcomes have provided greater confidence in the scale and continuity of uranium mineralisation at the deposit,” Mr Hoskins said.

Following the successful campaign, the company is preparing to launch a reverse circulation drilling programme aimed at further testing and defining higher-grade zones at Chisebuka.

In addition, drilling rigs had been mobilised to the Muntanga North target for a maiden drilling programme after ground radiometric surveys identified several promising exploration prospects in the area.

The latest developments come as the country seeks to diversify its mining industry beyond copper and position itself to benefit from growing global demand for uranium.

Demand for the mineral has been rising amid renewed investment in nuclear energy, increasing focus on energy security and global efforts to reduce carbon emissions through cleaner energy sources.

Industry analysts believe continued exploration success at Muntanga could enhance the country’s profile as an emerging uranium producer while supporting broader efforts to expand the country’s mineral production base.
