COPPERTECH Metals, a technology-driven copper and cobalt producer established by Vedanta Resources Limited and anchored by Zambia’s Konkola Copper Mines (KCM), has launched an initial public offering (IPO) and applied to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

The planned listing, under the ticker symbol “CUX,” marks a significant milestone in linking Zambia’s mineral resources with global capital markets and the growing demand for critical minerals used in technology and industrial manufacturing.

According to a statement issued by KCM Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Dr John Kunda, CopperTech Metals was a U.S.-domiciled company that combines artificial intelligence, advanced processing technologies and the high-grade mineral assets of KCM to supply copper and cobalt to U.S. technology and industrial sectors.

“The IPO and NYSE listing application mark a significant step in strengthening the link between Zambia’s mineral resources and the U.S. technology and industrial supply chain,” Dr Kunda said.

The company’s flagship asset was KCM, whose operations in Copperbelt Province are regarded as among the world’s highest-grade copper deposits and a significant source of cobalt, both of which are increasingly vital for clean energy technologies and advanced manufacturing.

Dr Kunda said its mission is to “Power the Copper Century” by leveraging innovative technologies and operational expertise to meet rising global demand for critical minerals.

The IPO and proposed NYSE listing were expected to strengthen commercial ties between the country’s mining sector and the U.S. technology supply chain while providing the company with greater access to international investors.

CopperTech combines high-grade ore bodies with established processing infrastructure and the use of artificial intelligence to enhance production efficiency and sustainable value creation.

The development comes as global demand for copper and cobalt continues to rise, driven by the expansion of electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, digital infrastructure and other technology-intensive industries.

If successful, the listing would position CopperTech among the growing number of mining companies seeking to capitalise on investor interest in minerals that are critical to the global energy transition and industrial innovation.
